An intimate peek at Steve and Lisa’s self-uniting ceremony

October 19, 2015

It’s been a couple of long months since I last posted a client spotlight. So, I’m incredibly excited to share this intimate peek at Steve and Lisa’s self-uniting ceremony which took place in Philadelphia last summer.

I’ve never had the pleasure of witnessing a self-uniting ceremony before, and I was completely enchanted by the sweet, private moments that this couple shared with 10 of their closest family members. It’s such a thrill to see the pictures that include one of my favorite wedding certificate designs being passed around as each witness adds their signature (and their blessing) to Lisa and Steve’s union.

The couple and their incredibly talented photographer Dani Dietz were kind enough to let me share a few of their photographs here. I hope you enjoy this intimate look at Lisa and Steve’s beautiful ceremony.

Julia and Phillip’s Custom Architectural Ketubah

April 15, 2015

Custom Ketubah

About 10% of my ketubah clients choose to do a full custom design, and for that, I’m super grateful. Working on custom designs is always an opportunity to flex my creative muscles and to try out ideas I might not have arrived at on my own. And at the end of every experience, I always feel like I learned something.

I’ve had clients approach me with countless incredible ideas for custom ketubot – from Zion national park, to the hills of eastern Vermont, to a typographic design featuring three very different languages. Each time I set up a video call to discuss a new prospective client’s ideas, I’m blown away by what they’ve come up with. (Seriously, you guys are a blast to work with!)

Today, I thought I’d share a little about a custom ketubah that I did last summer for a couple getting married in the brand new contemporary wing of the Chicago Art Institute. As someone who lived in Chicago for four years, I was very familiar with the beautiful architecture of Art Institute and the surrounding grounds. But the challenge was going to be capturing the essence of the place without getting lost in the details. I spent a long time studying the lines and shapes that made up this beautiful piece of architecture, and eventually I landed on a design that felt true to life but not overly literal. My favorite part of the design was adding a faint reflection of the Chicago skyline in the windows of the building. I felt good about how the piece turned out, and I think the couple was pretty happy with it too!

If you’re interested in a custom design, you can always browse some of my recent work over here, or set up a free video chat conference to hash out some of your ideas.

Megan and Greg’s Classic Autumn Wedding

March 19, 2015

Megan-Greg-Wedding-3

As you know, nothing makes me happier than hearing from a client after their wedding. This week I got an email from a lovely couple with whom I worked last September. They had an intimate autumn ceremony in White Plains, NY on what has to be the most beautiful fall day on record. This wedding has such a classic glamour to it, while still managing to be sweet down to its core. They also sent me their beautiful wedding video, which I sobbed my way through (because I love weddings, stop judging me!) And because Megan and Greg are so kind, they’re letting me share a few peeks of their wedding here on my blog! A quick warning to grab a tissue before you press play…

Jen and Jared’s Stunning Poppy Affair

March 11, 2015

Time for another client spotlight! I got a call from a fun-loving couple last July who were looking for a custom version of my State Silhouette ketubah. They had been dating long distance (New Jersey to California, no less) and wanted to celebrate where they came from and where they were going. They also had the most amazing palette of wedding colors – a vibrant poppy red-orange and classic navy – so I knew I had to incorporate that into their finished piece.

The happy couple married last November in Napa, and last week they sent me some photos of their stunning ceremony and reception. I’m obsessed with everything about this wedding – the venue, the dress, the flowers, the photography, and especially the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time (see below!). Their photographer, Megan Reeves, along with Jen and Jared, were kind enough to let me feature a few of their beautiful photographs here on my blog. Enjoy!

Jana and Steven’s Romantic Violet Wedding

January 29, 2015

Nothing makes my day more than receiving an email from a ketubah client who wants to share some wedding photos with me. I get to know my clients fairly well during the ketubah or marriage certificate creation process, and so I’m always bursting with curiosity about how everything came together in the end. So when the rare opportunity comes along to see a client’s wedding photos…well…I’m one happy camper.

Last week, I got an email from a positively delightful client, Jana, for whom I had created a custom version of my Tree of Life ketubah design. She had mentioned at the time that they were having a violet wedding, and I was dying to see her color-drenched theme come to life. I was not disappointed! Jana and Steven’s wedding was ridiculous stunning. Wow. And I’m super excited to share some pictures with you, with the permission of the bride and groom and their super talented photographer Dani Leigh.

I almost wish I could go back in time to have my own Violet Wedding.

Spotlight on: Claire and Josh

December 4, 2014

Time for another client spotlight!  Today I wanted to feature Claire and Josh’s beautiful DC wedding.  These photos were taken by the uber-talented Erika Layne and are reposted here with her permission.

Most of the custom ketubahs I create are made from hand-painted textures that are scanned into my computer and digitally composed.  So when Claire and Josh approached me about doing a full hand-painted design for them, I jumped at the chance!  They wanted a circular design with colors symbolizing the dawn and dusk.  I was so excited about how it turned out.  And I was even more excited to see photos from their wedding!  I can see their personalities shining through in every tiny detail.

So fun to work with you on your ketubah, Claire and Josh!

To see more of their ‘electric colorful’ jewish wedding, pop on over the Erika’s blog.

Spotlight On: Emily and Ben

November 20, 2014

A few days ago, a friend of mine sent me a link to a post on Style Me Pretty saying, “Looks like you did their ketubah!”  The moment I saw their names, I knew she was right.  Over the summer, I had worked with an insanely lovely couple named Emily and Ben on a ketubah for their intimate Sunstone Villa wedding.

Since I work from my studio in Madison, WI, I very rarely get to meet my clients in person or to see how their wedding day comes together in the end.  So getting an inside glimpse of their incredible venue and beautifully intimate ceremony was wonderful.  I watched their wedding video twice, sobbing the whole way through.  I love everything about this wedding, and I feel so touched that my artwork was a part of it.

I asked Emily and Ben if I could share their video here on my site, and they kindly obliged!  Thank you, Emily and Ben – it was a joy to work with you!

If you’re curious, Emily and Ben selected my Rainy Mountain ketubah design.

*If you’ve worked with me in the past and wouldn’t mind sharing some of your wedding photos, I would LOVE to feature you on my blog!  Please get in touch!
