— CONTEMPORARY QUAKER WEDDING CERTIFICATES —
Which text should we use?
If you’re having a traditional Quaker wedding in a meeting house, you should check with your committee about whether your Quaker wedding certificate needs to have the traditional wording. Some meetings require the traditional certificate as part of the marriage process. Otherwise, the choice of wording is up to you! You can browse all the text options here.
Your text will be personalized with all your information. I will always change words such as “bride,” “groom,” “husband,” wife,” “partner,” “spouse,” etc. to accurately reflect your relationship at no additional charge. If you’d like to make small changes to the text, I would be happy to accommodate you. However, if you’d like to make dramatic changes, I request that you select the “write your own text” option at checkout. You will see a full proof of your certificate before it’s printed.
Can we use a text from a different website or a book?
As long as you have permission from the author of the text, I’m happy to use any text you would like for the wording of your certificate. Many vows and wedding texts are in the public domain, so there are many options out there!
Can we write our own text?
Absolutely! This is what my husband and I did, and it was a very meaningful process. Be sure to check with your committee first if you are having a traditional Quaker wedding in a meeting house to make sure they don’t have any specific requirements. There is a $10 fee for custom text because it takes me longer to incorporate into your design. Please be sure to select “write your own text” at checkout.
What parts of our wedding certificate can be customized?
I try to make my wedding certificates as customizable as possible so that each couple has something unique. Here’s a list of which things you can customize free of charge:
- Select the text or write your own ($10 fee to write your own)
- Have your names added to the design of the certificate
- Have your wedding date added to the design of the certificate
- Select the fonts for the headlines and texts
- Pick the number of signature lines
- Decide on whether the signature lines should be labeled
- Pick the color of the text
- In some designs, you also get to pick the color of the main design element
In each of my designs, you can also request additional changes (such as adding more elements or changing the composition). These design changes start at $50, and I ask that you contact me for a specific quote.
Can we see a sample of your work in person?
A marriage certificate is a big investment, and something you will have with you for the rest of your life. If you would like to see a sample of my work in person before purchasing a full-size version, simply ask. I can ship you an 8″x10″ sample of the marriage certificate of your choice for $30.
How do we care for our wedding certificate?
There are a couple of things to be aware of when caring for your wedding certificate. Your certificate is printed on 100% acid-free archival fine art paper using the giclee printing process. Because of this, if your certificate is taken care of properly, it will last a lifetime.
Pen for Signing – I recommend that you use a uni-ball GEL pen, as these are least likely to scratch the surface of your fine art paper marriage certificate. These pens are available in a wide variety of colors, and the metallic and white colors work wonderfully on the certificates with dark backgrounds. Here’s some more information about pens.
Framing – I highly recommend that you frame your marriage certificate using UV glass and that you hang it out of direct sunlight.
Humidity – If you have your marriage certificate professionally framed, it should be safe from standard amounts of humidity. Be sure to store it in a dry place before it is framed.
How long does it take to receive our certificate? Is rush service available?
For one of my standard designs, please allow 4 weeks to receive your certificate. If you’re working with me on a custom design, please allow a minimum of 6 weeks.
Rush service is available for an additional $30, allowing you to receive your wedding certificate in 2 weeks.
Is there a charge for last minute changes?
If you find that you need to make a change at the last minute to the text or design of your wedding certificate, I will do my very best to accommodate you free of charge. However, if your certificate has already been given final approval and printed, there will be a $30 reprinting fee. If I need to reship your certificate, you will also be charged the cost of re-shipping.
What is your cancellation / refund policy?
I have never had a client cancel or request a refund on a certificate, but I do have a policy in case the situation ever arises. You will receive a partial refund if you need to cancel your certificate, depending on where we are in the process when you decide to cancel:
- If I have not begun any work on your certificate, you will receive all but $10 (to cover bank fees)
- If I have already put together the proof of your certificate, you will receive all but $30
- Once you receive your finished certificate, I cannot provide you with a refund. However, I am more than happy to work with you to make changes and re-ship if there is something you are not happy with
What if my certificate is lost or damaged?
All certificates are shipped fully-insured against damage. If your certificate arrives damaged, please be sure to take pictures of the packaging and the damaged certificate so that I can file the insurance claim. If your certificate arrives damaged, I will immediately ship a replacement free of charge.
If your certificate is damaged after arriving at your home, I can re-print and re-ship for $35.
