Can we use a text from a different website or a book? Expand

As long as you have permission from the author of the text, we are happy to use any text you would like for the wording of your certificate. Many vows and wedding texts are in the public domain, so there are many options out there!

Can we write our own text? Expand

Absolutely! Be sure to check with your committee first if you are having a traditional Quaker wedding in a meeting house to make sure they don't have any specific requirements. There is a $10 fee for custom text because it takes us longer to incorporate into your design. Please be sure to select "write your own text" at checkout.

What parts of our wedding certificate can be customized? Expand

We try to make our wedding certificates as customizable as possible so that each couple has something unique.  Here's a list of which things you can customize free of charge:

Text:

  • Select the text or write your own ($10 fee to write your own)
  • Have your names added to the design of the certificate
  • Have your wedding date added to the design of the certificate

Design:

  • Select the fonts for the headlines and texts
  • Pick the number of signature lines
  • Decide on whether the signature lines should be labeled
  • Pick the color of the text
  • In some designs, you also get to pick the color of the main design element

In each of our designs, you can also request additional changes (such as adding more elements or changing the composition).  These design changes start at $50, and we ask that you contact us for a specific quote.

Can we see a sample of your work in person? Expand

A marriage certificate is a big investment, and something you will have with you for the rest of your life.  If you would like to see a sample of our work in person before purchasing a full-size version, you can purchase one here.  You will also get a $15 credit towards the future purchase of a full-size certificate.

What pen should we use to sign our wedding certificate? Expand

If you've purchased a fine art paper wedding certificate, we recommend that you use a uni-ball GEL pen, as these are least likely to scratch the surface of the artwork.  These pens are available in a wide variety of colors, and the metallic and white colors work wonderfully on the certificates with dark backgrounds.

If you've ordered a wedding certificate on stretched canvas, we recommend the Uni-Ball Signo pen series. The ink flows a bit more freely in this pen, so be careful to let it dry before touching your signature.

How do we care for our wedding certificate? Expand

There are a couple of things to be aware of when caring for your wedding certificate.  Your certificate is printed on 100% acid-free archival fine art paper or archival-quality stretched canvas using the giclee printing process.  Because of this, if your certificate is taken care of properly, it will last a lifetime.

Framing - We highly recommend that you frame your marriage certificate using UV glass and that you hang it out of direct sunlight. If you have purchased a stretched canvas certificate, there is no need to frame it, though we do recommend not hanging it in direct sunlight.

Humidity - If you have your marriage certificate professionally framed, it should be safe from standard amounts of humidity.  Be sure to store it in a dry place before it is framed.

How long does it take to receive our certificate? Is rush service available? Expand

For one of our standard designs, please allow a minimum of 3 weeks to receive your wedding certificate. The exact timing will depend on how long it takes for you to respond during the proofing process, so the more time you give yourself, the better. If you're working with artist Adriana Saipe on a custom design, please allow a minimum of 6 weeks.

Rush service is available for an additional fee, which will depend on your 'deliver by' date. You can enter your 'deliver by' date on any of the product pages to see what the rush fees will be. If you need a wedding certificate delivered in under a week, we will do our very best to accommodate you. Please give us a call before you purchase so that we can go over any details with you about your rush order.

Is there a charge for last minute changes? Expand

If you find that you need to make a change at the last minute to the text or design of your wedding certificate, we will do our very best to accommodate you free of charge. However, if your wedding certificate has already been given final approval and has already been printed and/or shipped, we will send you a bill for the additional charges (typically no more than $30).

What is your cancellation / refund policy? Expand

We have never had a client cancel or request a refund on a certificate, but we do have a policy in case the situation ever arises.  You will receive a partial refund if you need to cancel your certificate, depending on where we are in the process when you decide to cancel:

  • If we have not begun any work on your certificate, you will receive all but $5 (to cover bank fees)
  • If we have already put together the proof of your certificate, you will receive all but $30
  • Once you receive your finished certificate, we cannot provide you with a refund.  However, we are more than happy to work with you to make changes and re-ship if there is something you are not happy with.
What if my certificate is lost or damaged? Expand

All certificates are shipped fully-insured against damage. If your certificate arrives damaged, please be sure to take pictures of the packaging and the damaged certificate so that we can file the insurance claim. If your certificate arrives damaged, we will immediately ship a replacement free of charge.

If your certificate is damaged after arriving at your home, we can re-print and re-ship for $30.
